This week we are super busy...
Science: We started new science stations with a focus on the ocean is a major reservoir in the Earth's water cycle.
Writing: We are completing our narrative unit with a guided performance task. Students will navigate multiple sources including a video, map, and brochure on the Lincoln memorial. They will take notes, answer research questions and ultimately write an essay that incorporates their understanding of narrative writing AND the sources.
Reading: We are finishing up our read aloud, Home of the Brave, and continuing to analyze the theme across the setting, characters, and comparing it to other texts. We finished our literature book study unit, therefore your child will go back to reading their own independent book choice at school and as well at home.
Math: We are continuing our unit on division as we show our complete understanding of the process through models, distributive property, partial quotients, and the standard long division algorithm.
Social Studies: We are focusing on a various native american cultures from early settlements- peoples of the Northwest, Southwest, Plains, and East. Students will be working on a Native American project in which they will choose a tribe, create a Google slideshow, and construct a model to be put on display in our library. 10. 20.15- Field trip form and money due ( I sent this home today, please let me know if you need another one or prefer a digital copy)
Our Pie Party for those who have mastered 139 out of 164 topics on ALEKS, will be served pizza and pie:)
10.22.15- Field Trip!! We will depart at 9:00 am to Cahokia Mounds and return by 1:30 pm, bring lunch
