As we are approaching MAP, this is our mindset! I believe keeping a positive attitude towards our MAP testing will be half the battle towards a successful testing period. I sent an email last night with the dates. Please let me know if your child will be out for any reason.
It is that time of the year when I like to do random activities to keep school fun and inviting. Can you please send me a baby picture of your child, either by mail or in a sealed envelope. Each morning, I wish showcase a new baby picture and allow the class to guess who it is, a time to reflect on how far they have come.
Science: We are working within science stations this week, discussing ecosystems, food chains, food webs, animal adaptations, growth, and survival. These are some of the topics covered in the Kindergarten- fifth grade curriculum for MAP review.
Writing-: This week we are going to take all that we have learned about opinion writing and apply it to a practice writing performance task. This year on the MAP test, 5th graders will be asked to read 3 sources, take notes, and then write an essay using the sources. We will "unpack" this challenging task by breaking it down into steps and guiding students through the process!
Math: Students will continue to participate in small group instruction and math stations. We will be taking this time to go over the all math concepts from this year. There will be math homework on the Blog Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, highlighting key concepts.
Reading: We are continuing to tackle complex texts and passages as we read, discuss, and answer practice higher level questions on the computer. We are citing evidence from the text to support our answers.
